Description
The King and Queen Towers are reputed to be the tallest suburban skyscrapers in the US, situated outside of Atlanta's perimeter highway in Sandy Springs.
Locals all know them as the King and Queen Towers because of the ornate chess-like tops of the two office buildings, but they are officially Concourse 1 and 2. For two years, I passed these buildings every day on the way to work driving on Georgia 400. I'm sure there are a lot of other people in the Atlanta area who would instantly recognize them from their commutes on GA 400 or the top end of the perimeter highway.
I suspect, however, many more Atlantans would recognize them. I know they were among the first buildings that became fixed in my mental map of Atlanta area landmarks, and years after leaving, they still resonate with me.
Some places I've been known to return again and again, but I only visited these towers a few times. I was so happy with this image, taken near dusk as you can tell by the rich colors of the sky. I just didn't feel compelled to try to top this photo of these Atlanta Icons.

Thanks Christina! A personal favorite of mine I might add. This is one of those places I stalked for a good vantage point for ages. The best vantage points I knew were unfortunately in the middle of interstates. That wasn't going to work. LOL
