This print is beautiful. It's a commonly depicted subject, but it is very special. The composition, tonal quality, and movement are exceptional and evocative. The piece is true to it's title... breathtaking!

I have wanted this for my pro life bulletin board at my Catholic Church and I wasn’t disappointed. It is beautiful and it has so much meaning put in a picture. A picture speaks better then words and this picture says it all. Thanks
Artist's Description
This painting features Lt. Lee (Buddy) Archer top scoring pilot of the Tuskegee Airmen with 4 official air to air victories, unofficially 5+. He flew 169 combat missions, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Based at Ramitelli Airfield, Termoli, Italy, in late 1944 Archer is shown flying his Mustang P-51C escorting a squadron of B17f bombers.
Archer named his Mustang INA the Macon Belle and had all of his 302nd Fighter squadron aircraft painted with red tails to distinguish the all black pilots that flew them. His squadron belonged to the 15th Air Force, 332nd Fighter Group. The squadron was known to have never lost an escorted bomber in their care.
About Colin Parker
London born in 1943, I spent most of my working life in the aviation industry. As Senior Illustrator at Rolls-Royce, UK, I was responsible for creating many of the air brush colour cutaways of the aero engines designed and built by the company. Apart from aviation I have always been a “car nut”, going to race meetings at Brands Hatch and Silverstone in the UK where I managed to pick up many commissions, not only cars, but landscapes too. I have been heavily influenced by the foremost aviation artist, the late Frank Wootton OBE, FAGAvA, and like him I try to represent aircraft in action with the perception of clouds and atmosphere as seen from the pilot’s point of view. My favoured medium is acrylic. I am a member of the Australian...
